Meet Line Dancing John

Hi, I'm Line Dancing John. John or LD is fine! Line dancing entered my life in 2016 when someone invited me to try a lesson at a local club. I instantly fell in love with the music, the energy, and, without realizing it, found an incredible community.

Although my professional background was in social work for nearly two decades, I became passionate about line dancing almost overnight. Within just a few months I was helping friends and coworkers learn, and less than a year later I was invited to teach my own class. I like to say I brought the "social" from social work into my line dancing.

Today I run my own line dancing club while teaching weekly classes and private lessons. I teach both on land and at sea aboard cruise ships, and I'm honored to be hired for parties, celebrations, corporate events, and special occasions. My goal is simple: to make line dancing fun, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

Line dancing has evolved tremendously since I first started and is no longer limited to country music. I enjoy curating a wide variety of musical genres while teaching both timeless line dance classics and the newest dances making their way through line dancing communities across the country.

I'm not classically dance trained, and I believe that's one of my greatest strengths as an instructor. I still remember what it felt like to be a complete beginner. Believe it or not, I couldn't even dance what I jokingly call the "holy trinity" of line dancing: the Electric Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and the Wobble.

Those early struggles continue to shape the way I teach today. I strive to be the instructor I wish I had when I was learning—someone who makes every lesson approachable for beginners while still offering enough challenge to keep experienced dancers engaged and growing.
